One of the most loved Anime in 2023 has now won another title for its worldwide famous character.
It’s none other than Jujutsu Kaisen, which came back with its most awaited season 2 last year. The whole season was an extraordinary experience for the fans with lots of twists and turns and heart-throbbing moments. At this point, many of the fans were still not over the deaths that left everyone sobbing all over the world.
The Polls
One of the most streamed apps of anime, Crunchyroll, has revealed the Top Anime Crush of 2023, which is none other than everyone’s beloved Satoru Gojo, the top anime heartthrob.
The character has won the #1 spot in its polls with 1,075 votes, surpassing many other iconic characters of the year.
The Anime Crush poll titled “Who Was Your Anime Crush of 2023?” was posted and fans from all over the world were asked to vote for their favorite character. Crunchyroll crossed borders and regions to collect a wide range of votes.
Many characters were in the race to become the #1 Crush, but Gojo achieved supremacy even here like his character in the anime. His closest contender was Yor Forger from Spy x Family, who received 609 votes.
The anime is produced by Mappa and is based on the manga by Gege Akutami. Gojo’s win was somehow anticipated because of his great character driven by immense powers and complexities and his mysterious yet calm nature, which has intrigued the fans since season one.
While season one was more light-hearted, season two was a blast of battles and bloodshed in the Shibuya Incident Arc. Shedding light into Gojo and Geto’s history, season two revealed more about Gojo’s troubled past and his tragic departure from his best friend Geto. Many of the episodes left fans troubled with its turns and twists which stayed twisted till the end of the season.
Even though Gojo was not seen enough in season two compared to season 1, his presence still left a lasting impression on the fans. He is not only the strongest and most popular character in the anime, but also one of the most beloved characters in the anime world.
What Earned Him the Spot?
It isn’t just the fact that he’s the most powerful sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen or that he possesses great strengths that make him stand out, it is his struggle and tragedy that made him the most beloved.
The Hidden Inventory arc reveals his heartbreaking past along with the betrayal he faced while fighting in Shibuya. Fans not only sympathize with him but empathize with his character. Along with that his style and aura also reveal much more about his character, which earned him the spot of #1 anime heartthrob.
While he became the number one, it does not mean that the others were not worthy of the title. The Crunchyroll’s anime crush was a long list with other characters from the anime, Toji Fushiguro, Suguru Geto and Kento Nanami along with that there were Loid Forger from Spy × Family, Osamu Dazai from Bungo Stray Dogs, Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Vash the Stampede from Trigun Stampede. All were loved characters, but none could beat the ultimate Satoru Gojo.
The list contained well-written and loved characters that fans look up to in real life, with extraordinary stories and character build-ups from multiple genres. All were popular in their way, but none could surpass Gojo’s popularity in the polls.
