Despite the Snubs, Margot Robbie was not Bothered Instead Called it a Great Accomplishment

Barbie, one of the most iconic movies of 2023 along with Oppenheimer was well appreciated at the Oscars, but despite its huge success, it did not do justice to its Barbie, Margot Robbie.

Barbie actor and executive producer Margot Robbie was snubbed at the Oscars despite the worldwide appreciation for the movie.

The movie was nominated for eight Oscars which included Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling and Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera.

Both the director and the lead actor, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie were nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture but fans and some celebrities were shocked when they were passed over in the Best Director and Lead Actress categories.

Margot’s Statement

Margot Robbie finally broke her silence on the unjustifiable decision as per a report from Deadline. She spoke about the matter during a panel at a special SAG movie screening.

She wanted Gerwig nominated for Best Director for her commendable job on the movie. While 2023 was a brilliant year for the movies, Barbie accomplished what it had aimed to do by impacting the culture.

Despite not being nominated for the Best Actor, Margot appreciated the love her movie got all over the world while saying, “I just suspect it’s bigger than us.” She was happy and beyond ecstasy to deliver the movie in such a way that it grabbed eight Academy Award nominations, which was a big victory for her as well as the imprint the movie left worldwide, this was her biggest reward and nothing more.

Other’s Reactions

The controversy spread out and many celebrities like Ryan Gosling and Ferrera spoke in defense of the two, with others associated with the film.

Ryan even released a statement saying, “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig, the two people responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.”

Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State also forwarded her views on the snub via X, supporting the actor, saying, “Your millions of fans love you.”

Not only did the celebrities view their opinions, but X was taken by storm with massive debates related to the snub. Many users described how difficult it was for women to earn an Oscar, while others were quite normal about it, accepting the fact that the two were nominated elsewhere. Some users wanted more female-directed compelling movies like Barbie to open the doors to new ideas and thoughts.

Despite the tough competition from Oppenheimer, the movie was the highest-grossing movie of 2023, earning over $1,446 billion at the global box office.

Regardless of the disappointments, Barbie stood out from all the crowd of the movies in 2023, making it one of the most impactful movies that stirred audiences to reach out to the theatres.
