The government of Malaysia has announced the continuation of the MySalam scheme in the 2024 budget. The scheme will remain working for another two years.
MySalam is a free health protection initiative by the government of Malaysia that provides protection to individuals who are eligible to receive the benefits of this community protection scheme through the MySalam Trust Fund.
Initially, when the scheme was launched in January 2019, the eligible recipients consisted of households in the lowest 40 percent monthly income group. However, in budget 2024, the MADANI Medical Scheme will be expanded to the entire country with an allocation of RM 100 million that will benefit over 700,000 people.
Purpose Of MySalam’s Scheme
The purpose of launching this scheme was to provide social health protection to the poor section of society who need help to overcome financial problems when suffering from critical illnesses.
The initiative helps to facilitate low-income groups to live a normal life when faced with financial changes as a result of illness.
MySalam Eligibility
Here are the details regarding the eligibility criteria for receiving MySalam Payment.
For Sara Hidup Assistance Recipients
- Aged between 18 and 65 years.
- Single individuals aged between 40 and 65 years with an income of less than RM 24000 per year.
- Individuals with disabilities aged between 18 to 65 years and earning less than RM 24000 per annum.
For BSH Category
- A Cash Payment of RM 8000 is paid once upon diagnosis of one of 45 critical illnesses.
- Daily hospitalization fiber allowance income of RM 50 for up to 14 days or a maximum of RM 700 per year at any government hospital, military hospital, or university hospital.
If you fall under these criteria, then you are eligible for the scheme and can claim the payments.

Follow the below steps to apply for a claim.
Step 1: Visit MySalam’s official website and log in using credentials.
Step 2: Click on “download form” and “download critical illness – Doctor’s statement form.”
Step 3: Ask your doctor to fill out the form and provide details regarding the illness.
Step 4: Visit the website again and click the “Claims” icon. Scroll and click the critical illness button.
Step 5: Enter the required information and upload Critical illness form and copy of identification documents.
Step 6: Click the “Submit” button to complete the claim submission process.
