The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) discovered a problem with the accelerator pedal of over 4,000 Cybertrucks, prompting Tesla (TSLA) to order a voluntary recall of the vehicles.

“When high force is applied to the pad on the accelerator pedal, the pad may dislodge, which may cause the pedal to become trapped in the interior trim above the pedal,” the NHTSA said. It noted that if that happens, “the performance and operation of the pedal will be affected, which may increase the risk of a collision.”

Regulators clarified that the reason the pads probably came free was because soap, which was used as a lubricant during the vehicle assembly process, stopped them from staying attached to the pedal.

Tesla will replace or rebuild the accelerator pedal assembly to prevent the pad from dislodging at no cost to consumers, according to the NHTSA. Tesla publishes first-quarter results on Tuesday.

The recall concerns 3,878 Cybertrucks in total, all of which were produced between November 13 and April 4.

Although not the company’s first vehicle recall of the year, this is the most recent in a run of bad news. Over 2 million Tesla vehicles were recalled in February due to the warning panel’s font sizes being too small.

As demand for electric cars (EVs) declined in the first quarter, Tesla had the largest loss in the S&P 500 index. According to Reuters earlier this month, the EV behemoth had abandoned plans to manufacture a less expensive vehicle, frequently referred to as the Model 2, in favour of concentrating on developing its robotaxi. After that, Tesla allegedly informed staff members that it would be reducing staff numbers by almost 10%.

As of 12:10 p.m. ET on Friday, Tesla shares were barely moving, trading at $149.18. This year, they’ve decreased by about 40%.
