If you were looking forward to a Social Security payment on Wednesday, June 25, there’s a good chance your account will stay quiet. That’s because only a specific group of beneficiaries will receive a payment on that day, while millions of others won’t see a dime. Confusion often arises when people forget that Social Security checks are issued based on birth dates and benefit start dates — and this month, most recipients have already been paid.
Who Will Not Get a Social Security Payment on June 25?
Understanding the Social Security payment schedule is all about when you were born and when you started receiving benefits. If either of those details places you in the early or middle part of the month, you’re not getting paid on June 25.
Here’s who’s left out:
1. People Born Between the 1st and 10th of Any Month
If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th and you began receiving Social Security after May 1997, you were already paid on the second Wednesday of the month — June 11. That means your next check won’t arrive until mid-July.
2. People Born Between the 11th and 20th
If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th, your check came on June 18, the third Wednesday. You’ve also been paid for the month.
3. Those Who Began Receiving Benefits Before May 1997
Retirees and other recipients who started benefits before May 1997 follow a different schedule entirely — they always get paid on the third of the month. For June, that was June 3. These early recipients never receive a payment on the 25th.
4. SSI-Only Recipients
If you’re receiving only Supplemental Security Income (SSI), your payment came on June 1. SSI is paid separately from traditional Social Security retirement or disability benefits and does not fall on the Wednesday cycles at all.
So unless your birthday is after the 20th, and you started receiving benefits after May 1997, your June payments are already done.
Who Does Get Paid on June 25?
The only group receiving payments on Wednesday, June 25 are beneficiaries who meet two specific conditions:

Your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of any month.
These individuals always receive their checks on the fourth Wednesday of each month — which is June 25 in this case.
