Most people receive social security checks every month; however, some older people might be privileged to have two checks this November because of the calendar year’s last two months.
While the problem is not unique to this year – the Social Security Administration determines its payment calendar months before the year – some elderly may be caught off-guard next month if they fail to note the atypical payment date.
Many beneficiaries who could receive an additional check in November include those who are under the Social Security’s Supplemental Security Income, SSI, that targets the disabled adults as well as the low income seniors.
Many of those SSI recipients also receive monthly Social Security checks, the program that provides coined ‘retirement’ money for those who choose to retire at age 62.
There’s going to be an additional monthly payment next month — some of them may receive up to three payments in November.
How That Will Work
BEGINNING 1997 SSI recipients will receive payment on the first of every November.
Those who received Social Security before May 1997 or who received Social Security and SSI will also receive their Social Security payment on November 1 (most of those who receive both get their Social Security payment on the third of the month, but November 3 is Sunday so it will be November 1).
Recipients of SSI will also get a second payment this Friday, November 29th. As for the last month, Let’s take their December payment. However, because of the explicit day of the week on December 1, according to the payment schedule, the payment for the last month of 2024 will be on November 29.
